I missed Thai!

Today I worked from home as I was still feeling groggy after my Dr's appointment yesterday. Sadly, GG decided to come in to work today (she's a slacker and usually just works from home in her pajamas). Worse yet, people got thai food for lunch today. Thankfully, GG said she would put the rest of her garlic beef in my desk for me to find tomorrow. Thanks GG!

GrandpaDotCom Lives Again!!!!!!!!

Yesterday in a few minutes time I made a wonderful site as a tribute to a friend of mine at work, admireably named "grandpa." Now grandpa didn't think too highly of this site, especially since I put it up on his new domain (even though he hadn't really put anything up yet). On the one hand I could understand not wanting people to see it, on the other hand, who wouldn't want to know more about the illustrious grandpa! Well I've got good news for you and all the other grandchildren out there, Grandpa.Com lives again. I just transferred my domain over to .net hosting, so sooner or later i'll get around to working on that and making an acutal page. But don't you worry, when that happens, i'll put up a link to Grandpa.Com again!

WTFRTFM BrightHouse

This weekend I had great intentions to work at home. At the very least I would check out some online porn or illegally download some music. However, much to my dismay, as of around 1pm on Saturday, the internet was completely out. This lasted until Sunday afternoon, around 5pm. What gives. At home we have cable internet so you would think, the internet is out, there must be something wrong with the cable. But oh no, the cable going to the tv worked just fine. So my question is, what the hell could take Brighthouse over a full day to fix that wasn't a real cable outage, just an internet issue?

From Brighthouse's customer care site:

While our system reliability is second to none, when a problem does occur, our technicians respond promptly. All cable outages (three or more customers in the same area) are dispatched immediately--24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. On the average, outages are repaired in less than an hour.

They just fucked up their average for a long time.

the WOOT-OFF

If you're asking yourself right now, "What is woot?" you really should be asking yourself why do you bother getting on the internet. Woot is a online site that offers a "deal a day." That is every day at midnight they put a new product up on their web site. They sell that product (usually at a very discounted price) until they run out of stock and then the sale is done for the day. However, on occasion they have what is called a "Woot-Off" and when this takes place, they auction off a new item after every item is finished selling until the "Woot-Off" is complete. This could be after 5 items or it could be after 50. It seems that usually these items are the left overs of other sales. So instead of having 5000 of an item they might only have 5 or 50 of it. While an item on sale on a normal day might last until late in the day, items sold during a woot off "typically" sell out very quick. So what do they sell on woot? Electronics for the most part, sometimes tvs, sometimes home appliances, sometimes bags of crap. As of now, I've purchased three items from woot: wireless logitech headphones, lan party head phones (force feedback headphones with a microphone and colored leds), and a set of hand held walkie talkies. So remember the important thing is that you check out woot.com every day. You might just find something you like.
